GitHub Sponsors is for monthly subscriptions to support maintainers generally. PRiority is for funding specific issues with one-time payments. You pay for what you need, when you need it. Sponsors is "support the creator", PRiority is "get this specific thing done now."
BountySource shut down in 2023, leaving $2M in limbo. IssueHunt requires external accounts. Gitcoin uses complex crypto mechanics. They all failed because they were external platforms. PRiority runs entirely on GitHub Actions with funds controlled by the repository owner. No middleman, no platform risk.
Our estimation starts at ~50% accuracy and improves to <25% MAPE (Mean Absolute Percentage Error) after 20 completed issues. We use ensemble models combining historical data, code complexity analysis, and Claude's assessment. Estimates include confidence intervals (p10, p50, p90) so you know the range.
Refunds are graduated to prevent abuse: 85% before work starts, 40% after code is written, 25% after PR opened, 0% after merge. This prevents the "fund โ get code โ refund โ steal" exploit. Platform fees (10%) and AI tokens are never refundable as they're already consumed.
Minimum is $20 to cover transaction costs. Maximum is $10,000 per issue by default (configurable by maintainers). Most issues are funded between $100-$1,000 based on complexity. The AI suggests amounts but you can always choose custom amounts.
Claude analyzes the issue, writes code, creates tests, and opens a PR. It works within a token budget (tied to funding amount) and has safety controls: no force push, sandboxed execution, automatic rollback on test failure. Human review is always required for merge. Think of it as an AI junior developer.
The repository owner controls everything. Payment credentials are stored in GitHub Secrets, all transactions are logged in `.github/priority/`, and maintainers can pause, refund, or reassign work at any time. PRiority never touches the money - it goes directly from funder to maintainer via Stripe/Polar.
No PII is stored (only payment provider references). All data stays in GitHub (SOC2 compliant). Payment providers handle PCI DSS, KYC/AML. The AI agent has no access to secrets, can't force push, and works in sandboxed environments. Every transaction is auditable in the git history.
Free tier: 5% platform fee on funded issues. Pro ($99/month per repo): 5% fee plus analytics and priority support. Enterprise (custom): 5% fee plus SSO, audit logs, and SLAs. Payment processor fees (2.9% + $0.30 for Stripe) are separate.
